THE KONTIKI OPENS THE DOORS TO 22 NEW ROOMS AND SUITES, JUNGLE CHIC DOWN TO THE LAST DETAIL

22 new rooms and suites. That’s the next step for The Kontiki Beach Resort. Easy and full of life, exactly as the resort has welcomed guests since 2006. An expansion that marks the resort’s growth, without losing sight of what has set The Kontiki apart for twenty years: a barefoot jungle chic atmosphere where nature, calm, and hospitality come together.
Since opening in 2006, The Kontiki has grown into a mainstay of Curaçao’s hospitality scene. Where many resorts opt for a polished, uniform look, Kontiki has deliberately built on its own identity: lush greenery, open architecture, and an atmosphere that invites you to slow down.

The new rooms and suites follow that same philosophy. Spacious, naturally styled, and equipped with all the comfort guests have come to expect from The Kontiki. Natural elements such as stone, wood, greenery, and sand return in nearly every detail.

At the heart of the new wing: a magnesium pool, a deliberate choice that reflects the growing demand for wellness-oriented travel in 2026. Unlike traditionally chlorinated water, it contains minerals associated with a calming effect on skin and muscles, without the familiar chlorine smell and irritation.

“With this expansion, we’re adding something that fits exactly with what Kontiki already stands for: hospitality that goes beyond comfort alone,” says Terence van der Valk, general director of The Kontiki Beach Resort Curaçao. “The 22 new rooms and the magnesium pool are an investment in our guests’ experience, now and for the next twenty years.”

“In developing these rooms, we listened closely to what our guests expect from a stay at The Kontiki: space, calm, and quality down to the last detail,” adds John Veensma, chief operating officer. “From the layout to the finishes, everything is designed so guests feel at home the moment they step into the room.”

The Tropical Deluxe rooms and suites are open for bookings now, with stays available from 7 December.
ABOUT THE KONTIKI
On Cabana Beach in Willemstad, Curaçao, The Kontiki is a family-owned beachfront resort that has welcomed guests since 2006. Its roots run deeper: the van der Valk family’s life on the island began in 1988 with the opening of the Van der Valk Plaza Hotel, and that same spirit of adventure and familiarity runs through the resort today. Tucked among the palm trees, The Kontiki brings together jungle chic design, saltwater pools, and the Caribbean art of taking it easy, alongside three beach clubs: Club Cabana, Mood, and Wet & Wild.
