Cinnamon Life has announced the appointment of Sanjiv Hulugalle as the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams Sri Lanka.

Sanjiv Hulugalle’s career spans over three decades and includes leadership roles in 12 countries across five continents. His experience covers luxury hospitality, real estate development, and operational leadership in a range of global markets, including the Maldives, Canada, China, and the UAE.

He has previously served as Group President of Hospitality & Real Estate at KOHLER Co., where he was responsible for strategic growth across the company’s portfolio. Prior to that, Sanjiv led the repositioning of a $210 million development for the Auberge Resorts Collection. His 24-year tenure at Four Seasons involved leadership roles that delivered award-winning results in various international locations.

Sanjiv returns to Sri Lanka following a period of semi-retirement, describing his decision as one driven by personal connection and a desire to contribute to his home country. “This is not just a role,” he said. “It’s a way of giving back to the country that raised me—with its gracious hospitality, boundless warmth, and vibrant soul.”

Raised in a household with five sisters, Sanjiv notes that his upbringing influenced his character and leadership style. “Full of life, colour, and chaos,” he describes it, adding that this energy has shaped his approach to hospitality. He intends to bring this perspective to Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams.

“Sri Lankan hospitality is naturally gracious and kind,” he said. “It’s in our DNA. My mother would’ve wanted me to return and give back.”

In addition to his hospitality background, he is involved in investment in AI-led technologies, residential real estate, and wellness-focused consumer ventures.

Sanjiv describes his leadership philosophy as centred on authenticity and empathy. “Be real, and serve from the heart,” he said. “That’s how magic happens.”
