We then travel (45 minutes) to the Award-winning Waipara wine region. This region is known for its warm dry climate and rich alluvial soils, ideal for superior wine production. Over 40 vineyards and wineries dominate the landscape of the valley with Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc the most prominent local plantings.

Before visiting Georges Road winery, we head to Glenafric farm where you gain exclusive access to this private, authentic working sheep farm (3,000 sheep!) Glenafric – a 770-hectare coastal sheep and beef farm, with South Suffolk stud sheep flocks as well as commercial Corriedales and Hereford cattle. Enjoy REAL New Zealand.

Supporting two families, the Hobans, 3 generations. Marvel at the skill of a sheep shearer. Admire the enthusiasm of highly trained, highly valued farm dogs. Enjoy a safe and comfortable guided farm tour seated in comfort on our custom-built trailer towed by a vintage tractor. Admire farmer James’ collection of vintage tractors and farm machinery. Learn about the fascinating geological formation of Glenafric and this spectacular coastline.

We provide a delicious, locally sourced individual lunch and a gourmet grazing platter. You can enjoy this relaxing at Louise’s lookout, a quaint structure overlooking the beautiful South Pacific Ocean.

Back on board, we will take a short ride to Georges Road Winery. Here you will meet winemaker Kirk Bray. Kirk will take you through a tasting of current wines – *occasionally, we may have to use an alternative winery.

We then make our way back to Christchurch for city sightseeing, Arts Centre, Botanical Gardens, Avon River, the new stadium, Cardboard Cathedral, Cathedral Square, New Regent Street – then you’ll leave us cherishing wonderful memories you have just made.
