Description

Scottish National Portrait Gallery

Come face to face with the people who shaped Scotland’s past, present and future, an ideal venue for a reception or dinner.

This beautiful neo-gothic gallery reopened in December 2011 after an extensive refurbishment, and is now increasingly in demand as one of Edinburgh’s most striking event venues.

With its stained glass windows, incredible astrological ceiling, painted murals and gothic architecture, the Portrait Gallery displays key famous Scots from royals and rebels to poets and film stars, heroes and villains.

The rich and atmospheric Great Hall is a unique space for large-scale events. Beautifully lit, it provides a dramatic backdrop for evening cocktail receptions and private views.

Guests can view the exquisite painted frieze which charts key Scots in history and the intricately painted murals around the balcony. Both the Great Hall and Balcony are suitable for drinks and/or dinners.

The Ramsay Room is the principal space for dinners in the gallery and can accommodate 120 seated at round tables, amidst Scotland’s key figures.

Used in conjunction with the Great Hall, guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks whilst viewing some of the gallery’s art collection, before taking their seats for dinner in the sumptuous Ramsay Room, surrounded by the gallery’s 18th Century masterpieces.

The smart and stylish AK Bell seminar room is a new location for meetings, small seminars, presentations or away days. With seating for 40 theatre style and AV equipment such as a state-of-the-art interactive white board system and full technical support, the AK Bell is an adaptable space right in the heart of Edinburgh.

A unique alternative to the usual meeting space and perfectly located on the ground floor of the beautifully restored and refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
