IHG Hotels & Resorts and OzHarvest surpass one million meals milestone
IHG Hotels & Resorts and OzHarvest have surpassed one million meals delivered to people in need through their long-standing partnership in Australia, marking a significant milestone in their shared efforts to reduce food waste and support communities facing food insecurity.
Matt Tripolone, Managing Director, Australasia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Reaching more than one million meals is a meaningful milestone and reflects the collective efforts of our colleagues, hotel teams and partners across Australia. Our partnership with OzHarvest continues to deliver tangible impact in the communities where we operate, while also helping address food waste in a practical and purposeful way.”
Ronni Kahn AO, Founder of OzHarvest, said: “Our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts is a powerful example of what’s possible. Shared purpose drives real change and reaching one million meals is a truly extraordinary milestone. It reflects the incredible, sustained commitment of IHG teams right across the country. Their dedication to rescuing good, quality food and getting it to the people who need it most means everything to us.”
IHG has been a corporate partner of OzHarvest in Australia since 2018, providing committed support alongside fundraising, volunteering and food rescue initiatives. These include Stay for Good, IHG’s annual fundraising initiative, which sees participating hotels donate $1 from every room night stayed during the campaign period. Additional initiatives include the Winter Soup Challenge, which has delivered more than 3,000 litres of soup, dry goods drives contributing more than 2,500 kilograms of essential items, and participation in programmes such as OzHarvest’s CEO CookOff.
IHG is also a key supporter of OzHarvest’s Nourish program, helping young people facing barriers to education and employment access hospitality training, life skills development and pathways into employment. Through the partnership, participants gain real-world experience across IHG hotels, including mentoring, work experience and engagement with food and beverage teams, helping to build confidence, capability and longer-term career opportunities beyond immediate food relief.
The partnership supports progress on IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Journey to Tomorrow responsible business plan, which contains a commitment to improve the lives of 30 million people by 2030. By working with local partners like OzHarvest, IHG meets urgent community needs while creating longer-term development opportunities, complementing its global partnership with Action Against Hunger.
Building on the success of the partnership, IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its local food rescue efforts into markets such as Vietnam through VietHarvest, while also supporting initiatives like JapanHarvest, extending its community impact across the region.
IHG Hotels & Resorts remains committed to its partnership with OzHarvest, with Stay for Good returning in September to continue supporting local communities and build on the impact achieved to date.
