“Vikramotsav” to be Inaugurated by Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar at Red Fort
In a grand tribute to the illustrious legacy of Emperor Vikramaditya and to raise awareness about his monumental contribution to Indian history, culture, and the Vikram Samvat, a spectacular three-day cultural festival titled “Vikramotsav – 2025” is set to take place from April 12 to 14 at Madhavdas Park, Red Fort, New Delhi
The festival will be formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar at 7 PM on April 12, in the esteemed presence of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, and Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
At the heart of Vikramotsav is the grand theatrical spectacle “Mahanatya Samrat Vikramaditya”, conceptualized and executed by the Vishala Cultural and Public Welfare Committee under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. This majestic production brings to life the legendary journey of Emperor Vikramaditya—from his birth to his coronation—through an immersive and dramatic performance featuring 125 artists, 50 support crew, live horses, chariots, camels, and palanquins, and enhanced with multi-stage setups and cutting-edge LED graphic effects.
Alongside the theatrical performances, Vikramotsav will also feature several thematic exhibitions highlighting:
• Emperor Vikramaditya’s era, including representations of Ayodhya and numismatic heritage
• The cultural grandeur of Greater India
• Archaeological wealth and tourism potential of Madhya Pradesh
• State initiatives on investment and employment opportunities
Local Flavors, Timeless Arts:
Delhi residents and visitors will get to indulge in the culinary richness of Madhya Pradesh, with food courts serving traditional delicacies curated by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board.
The festival also offers an innovative AR/VR Pavilion, allowing attendees to virtually explore legendary tales and historical milestones. A holographic projection of Baba Mahakal will further deepen the spiritual and cultural connect.
An exclusive Handicrafts Pavilion will showcase Madhya Pradesh’s famed art forms, including Gond painting, Bagh prints, terracotta, palm leaf crafts, traditional sculptures, papier-mâché, and tribal arts, presented by master artisans.
