Tripurari Poornima Illuminates Sanquelim with Goa’s Cultural Radiance
Tripurari Poornima returns to Sanquelim in a spectacle of devotion and artistry, celebrating Goa’s living maritime and cultural heritage.
Vithalapur, Sanquelim glowed with splendour, devotion, and community pride as Goa celebrated the much-awaited Tripurari Poornima festival — a spectacular confluence of heritage, creativity, and faith. Jointly organised by the Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Department of Art and Culture, and Department of Information and Publicity, the festival drew enthusiastic participation from residents, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts from across India and overseas.
The evening unfolded in the divine presence of dignitaries, including Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant; Hon’ble Chairman, GTDC, Shri Kedar J. Naik; Hon’ble MLA and Chairman, Goa State Horticultural Corporation Ltd., Dr. Premendra Shet; Hon’ble MLA and Chairman, Goa Infotech Corporation Ltd., Dr. Chandrakant Shetye; and senior officials representing Goa’s art, culture, and tourism departments.
An Evening of Devotion and Artistry
The festivities commenced with a sacred procession dedicated to Lord Shrikrishna, followed by the graceful Palkhi of Shree Vitthal Rakhumai, setting a reverent tone that resonated through the evening. As twilight deepened, the festival grounds came alive with vibrant cultural performances, celebrating Goa’s traditional dance, music, and craftsmanship.
The festival’s hallmark attraction—the Traditional Boat Show—once again mesmerised spectators. Artistically crafted boats, glowing with intricate lights, glided across the waters, symbolising Goa’s rich maritime heritage. The enthralling ‘Tripurasur Vadh’ presentation, narrating the eternal triumph of good over evil, captivated audiences with its spiritual depth and theatrical brilliance. The night concluded with the magnificent release of ‘Saranga’, illuminating the skies in a cascade of colours and devotion.

Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, expressed pride in Goa’s living traditions, saying “Tripurari Poornima reflects the creativity and cultural devotion of our people.”
He then added, “This year, the winning boats will be preserved and displayed at Ravindra Bhavan or Kala Academy, allowing national and international visitors to appreciate this unique Goan art form.”
He continued, “As we advance toward Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Goa @2037, the role of Yuva Shakti is vital in carrying forward our traditions while embracing innovation, technology, and research.”
Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, highlighted the festival’s growing tourism value, stating, “Tripurari Poornima showcases the spiritual and cultural depth of Goa.
