The Nautilus Maldives is delighted to announce a new artistic partnership with celebrated British painter Phoebe Dickinson, whose portraits, landscapes and still lifes have earned international acclaim and established her as one of the UK’s most distinguished contemporary artists. This new exclusive artist residency marks the evolution of the island’s ‘Masters for Masters’ creative calendar, celebrating art, creativity and barefoot luxury at one of the world’s most inspiring natural canvases.
From 18th to 21st October 2026, The Nautilus Maldives will welcome Phoebe Dickinson for an exclusive artist residency, inviting guests into her creative world through a programme of intimate experiences and masterclasses. These include landscape painting masterclasses, daily beachfront painting sessions as part of the resort’s Nautilus Rising sunset experience, open studio sessions where guests can observe and engage with the artist at work, and a barefoot ‘Meet the Artist’ evening offering personal insight into her artistic practice and inspiration.
Dickinson will immerse herself in the island’s extraordinary natural beauty, creating original works inspired by the archipelago’s light, colour and views. More than a traditional residency, the partnership reflects The Nautilus’ enduring commitment to creativity, artistic freedom and individual expression. As a lasting memento of the collaboration, Dickinson will also create a bespoke hand-painted postcard inspired by her time on the island.

Widely recognised for her exceptional ability to capture both people and place, Dickinson has held six successful solo exhibitions across London and New York and has exhibited five times at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition. Her accolades include the 2022 Certificate of Excellence from the Portrait Society of America and the prestigious RP Award from the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2021. Her portrait for the Cholmondeley Children at Houghton Hall was selected for the 2018 BP Portrait Award exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Most recently, Dickinson’s acclaimed exhibition, Great Houses and Gardens of England, celebrated some of Britain’s most iconic estates, their custodians and the ongoing stewardship that preserves them for future generations. Her works are held in the collections of Houghton Hall, Daylesford House, Belvoir Castle and Blenheim Palace, and she has also led acclaimed en plein air painting retreats at Villa Cetinale in Italy.
