Goa’s vibrant Spring Festival, The Spirit of Shigmo 2025 commences on 15th March and will be held till 29th March

Goa’s vibrant festivals, a true reflection of its rich cultural heritage, draw millions of visitors each year, with the illustrious Shigmotsav festival taking centre stage.

Often referred to as Goa’s very own spring festival, the Shigmo festival in Goa 2025 is a grand celebration of the state’s cultural traditions, and artistic heritage. The hallmark of Shigmo is its spectacular street parades. These parades feature elaborate floats depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, including the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Traditional dance forms like Romtamel, Fugdi, Ghodemodni, Dhangar dance and more, performed by troupes dressed in vibrant attire, add to the visual splendour. Accompanied by the beats of dhols and tasha drums, the energy of these performances is truly contagious.

In Panaji and other key locations like Ponda, Calangute, Margao, Sanquelim, Valpoi, Porvorim, Bicholim, Pernem, Canacona, Vasco, Shiroda, Curchorem, Quepem, Dharbandora, Margao, Mapusa, Sanguem, Cuncolimthe and other places parades become grand spectacles, blending ancient traditions with modern artistry.  Shigmo symbolizes the arrival of spring and the streets resonate with laughter and cheer, creating a lively atmosphere that is hard to resist.
