Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival returns with global stars and rich cultural showcases. A vibrant celebration of music, art and nature set against Meghalaya’s pink bloom
The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 is set to return this weekend with a powerful line-up of international stars, homegrown talent and immersive cultural experiences. The two-day event will take place on November 14 and 15 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Polo Grounds in Shillong. It marks the festival’s most ambitious edition yet, celebrating the arrival of the iconic pink blossoms and Meghalaya’s growing presence as a global cultural destination.
Opening day on November 14 will feature headline performances by worldwide chart toppers The Script and Jason Derulo. They will be joined by entertainer and dance icon Nora Fatehi, who will deliver a high-energy set to open the celebrations. The day will also spotlight a strong roster of regional performers, including Dappest and adL, Zephyrtone, Walter Wahlang, Khasi Bloodz, Prismer, ALIVE, Larger Than 90 and Bending Waves. The programming aims to present an immersive blend of global and local artistry to audiences.
The second day, November 15, will raise the tempo with international acts Tyga and Aqua, supported by an electrifying headline performance by global producer DJ Diplo. The day will also showcase leading artists from the Northeast, such as Meba Ofilia, Girish and The Chronicles, Ahaia, G Hills Finest, Finding Mero, Dalariti and ARIUS. A Tribute to Zubeen Garg has been specially curated to honour his artistic legacy and influence across the region.
Alongside the main stages, the festival will present a variety of interactive zones and activities, including the Cherry Blossom Arm Fight, Karaoke Contest, Mechanical Bull, Zipline, Graffiti Contest and a Cherry Blossom Cosplay Competition. Visitors will also find an extensive range of food stalls, craft showcases and merchandise booths that reflect Meghalaya’s culinary variety and creative energy. Organisers have introduced upgraded event technologies and enhanced safety systems to provide a secure and seamless festival experience.
While the Polo Ground will function as the primary festival venue, visitors can further explore the Japan Arena at Ward’s Lake. This dedicated cultural space celebrates the longstanding ties between Meghalaya and Japan with displays of Japanese art, music, cuisine and traditional performances. It offers a deeper understanding of the cultural exchange that has strengthened the relationship between the two regions, symbolised by the blooming cherry blossoms that represent renewal, harmony and friendship.
As Shillong’s hills burst into soft shades of pink, the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 invites visitors to celebrate a rich fusion of nature, music and culture. With world-renowned performers sharing the stage with leading artists of Meghalaya and the Northeast, the festival reinforces the region’s place on the global cultural map and honours the natural beauty that has long defined the state.
