RHG backs the government’s push for year-round tourism in J&K
RHG backs the government’s push for year-round tourism in J&K
Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) aligns with government’s vision to boost year-round tourism in Jammu & Kashmir
A high-level meeting was held in New Delhi recently, bringing together key stakeholders from the tourism sector, including government officials and industry leaders, to discuss strategies to boost tourism in Jammu & Kashmir. KB Kachru, Chairman of Radisson Hotel Group, South Asia, and President of the Hotel Association of India (HAI), attended the meeting along with Yasha Mudgal, Commissioner Secretary to Government, Tourism Department, J&K, and other officials.
With 200 hotels in operation and development across India, Radisson Hotel Group is one of the leading international chains operating in Jammu & Kashmir. RHG has been contributing to tourism infrastructure in J&K with eight operational hotels – five in Kashmir and three in Jammu – and three in pipeline.
“At Radisson Hotel Group, we recognize the immense potential of Jammu & Kashmir as a global tourism hub. Our strategic investments in the region, including the introduction of the Radisson Collection, are aligned with the government’s vision to position J&K as a year-round destination. By combining our global expertise in hospitality with the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness, we aim to create a sustainable tourism ecosystem that drives economic growth, generates employment and delivers world-class experiences to travelers. Our expansion in the region underscores our commitment to not just building hotels, but also building futures for the local communities,” said Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director & Area Senior Vice President, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group (RHG).
“With RHG reinforcing its commitment towards expanding its presence in J&K, it is important for other hospitality partners as well to recognize the potential and invest further in the region. We have aligned ourselves with the government’s vision to position J&K as a year-round tourist destination and kicked off our luxury segment, Radisson Collection, to scale up the tourist experience there. The region has the promise to tap into leisure and business travelers and offer state-of-the-art accommodation. We need more investors, a more focused approach, campaigns, and reliable voices to talk about this beautiful location,” said KB Kachru, Chairman of Radisson Hotel Group, South Asia.
Jammu and Kashmir has been regarded as India’s most scenic and culturally rich destination, with stunning landscapes, adventure opportunities, religious sites and unique cultural experiences. Looking at the growth potential and the need for infrastructural development to harness this beauty for tourism, the recent meeting emphasized the importance of private sector investments, government support, and digital campaigns to attract tourists. The hospitality sector needs to focus on sustainable tourism to drive economic development in the region and offer signature service excellence with authentic local experiences.
The meeting also highlighted connectivity requirements, improved waste management and eco-friendly regulations. Discussions included takeaways from the Union Budget 2025 and how it can align with the hospitality sector’s plans for further development. With a focus on employment generation and economic growth, the Government of India’s vision for each region can be realized, considering the immense potential of J&K.
Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) remains committed to supporting the region’s growth by delivering world-class hospitality and creating opportunities for local communities, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for Jammu & Kashmir.
