Ramón von Schükkmann Returns to Lead Pine Cliffs Resort
Pine Cliffs Resort has announced the appointment of Ramón von Schükkmann as Complex General Manager, marking his return to the iconic Algarve property and to Portugal after more than 25 years of international experience in luxury hospitality.
Ramón von Schükkmann brings extensive senior leadership experience across some of the world’s most recognised luxury hospitality brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis and W Hotels. His career has spanned hotel operations, commercial strategy, guest experience, sales and marketing, as well as the launch and development of luxury properties across international markets.
His appointment represents a return to Pine Cliffs, where he previously served as Complex Director of Sales and Marketing from June 2006 to June 2010. In that role, he was responsible for the sales and marketing strategy across the resort and played a leading role in the launch and opening of Pine Cliffs Residence, strengthening the property’s luxury residential offering.
Most recently, since July 2021, Ramón served as Hotel Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama, in Spain. At the 462-room luxury resort, he was responsible for day-to-day operations and led a team of 700 colleagues. During his tenure, he oversaw the restoration of the resort’s full service offering following the COVID-19 pandemic, while contributing to significant improvements in guest satisfaction, occupancy and revenue.
His international career has also included senior commercial leadership positions as Director of Sales and Marketing at The St. Regis Washington, DC; W South Beach in Miami; and The St. Regis Mauritius.

In his new role, Ramón will oversee the resort’s overall operations and strategic direction, with a focus on further enhancing the guest experience, developing the resort’s teams and strengthening Pine Cliffs’ position within the European luxury hospitality market.
