PARADISE PLAINS REOPENS FOR THE SEASON IN THE HEART OF KENYA’S MASAI MARA
Paradise Plains, Wilder’s luxury safari camp set in the heart of the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, has officially reopened its doors for the 2026 safari season, debuting two exciting additions designed to elevate its safari experience while remaining true to its commitment to conservation and community.
The camp’s innovative new Sky Walk – an elevated walkway and viewing platform set 4.2 metres above the ground – offers guests a unique vantage point across the surrounding wilderness, with prime opportunities to observe its abundant birdlife, watch herds of elephants roam underfoot, and move throughout the camp without disrupting natural wildlife corridors or leaving a significant footprint on the environment.
Opening in August 2026 is Paradise Plains’ new Coffee Bar, a relaxed space for guests to enjoy expertly crafted coffee and light refreshments while taking in the sights and sounds of the Mara.
New for this season, reflecting the growing demand for experiences that prioritise wellbeing alongside adventure, Paradise Plains has introduced a series of wellness-focused menus, including a 100% plant-based offering, its “Eat Like a Yogi” menu, and a Matcha & Detox menu. Designed to nourish the body, support movement and enhance holistic health, the menus combine nutrient-dense ingredients with flavour-led cuisine, allowing guests to embrace a more mindful approach to dining while immersed in the restorative nature of the Masai Mara.
Together with the camp’s nine design-led suites, fine dining, spa, gym and infinity pool, these offerings further enhance Paradise Plains’ immersive and wellbeing-centred safari experience, combining authentic wilderness encounters with refined luxury.
PARADISE PLAINS SKY WALK – NEW FOR SUMMER 2026
Stretching the breadth of the camp’s nine luxury guest suites, the expansive Sky Walk offers a unique perspective of the Masai Mara’s renowned wildlife throughout the year, including its remarkable birdlife. With more than 500 recorded species, the reserve ranks among Africa’s leading birding destinations. This new elevated walkway offers close access while minimising disturbance to local wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem, while allowing guests to observe many of them at eye level among the treetops.
The rhythms of the Mara bring continuous change and diversity to its birdlife. During the dry season (June to October), clear skies and shorter grasses make for excellent sightings of resident species, including martial eagles, secretary birds, ground hornbills and vast flocks of red-billed queleas, while herons, kingfishers and storks gather around the Mara River and nearby wetlands. The short rains (November to December) bring an influx of migratory visitors, such as European bee-eaters, steppe eagles, and brightly coloured warblers, alongside the start of the breeding season, when courtship displays and nesting activity are in full swing. During the lush green months of the long rains (March to May), birdlife reaches its peak, with crowned cranes, sunbirds and a wide range of migratory species appearing in their vibrant breeding plumage, while elusive forest dwellers such as the Narina trogon become easier to spot in the riverine woodlands.
Throughout the seasons, guests may encounter some of the Mara’s most iconic species, including Kenya’s national bird, the lilac-breasted roller, the unmistakable African fish eagle, as well as turacos, Meyer’s parrots, and a variety of raptors.
PARADISE PLAINS COFFEE BAR – COMING IN AUGUST 2026
Opening in August, the new Coffee Bar at Paradise Plains offers guests a relaxed retreat between safari adventures – seamlessly integrated into the camp’s canvas-and-wood surroundings, looking out over the sweeping savannah. Designed to follow the natural flow of camp life, the open-air space provides a tranquil setting for a morning coffee before a game drive, a light refreshment during the day, or a peaceful moment as lanterns illuminate the camp at dusk. With open-sided seating beneath canvas shade and acacia trees, guests can savour the sights and sounds of the wilderness, often accompanied by distant wildlife sightings and the natural soundtrack of the African bush.
Showcasing the natural brightness, clarity, and depth of renowned Kenyan coffee, the Coffee Bar will serve up a variety of freshly brewed Kenyan coffees throughout the day, alongside espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, slow-brew options as well as a selection of teas and a dedicated detox and matcha menu. A menu of freshly prepared snacks, including seasonal fruits, homemade cakes, safari biscuits, granola bars and healthy energy bites, offers nourishment between game drives, spa treatments and other camp activities.
Matcha & detox blends
Complementing the Coffee Bar’s offering is a wellness-focused menu of matcha blends, nutrient-rich smoothies, and restorative juices designed to support energy, recovery, and overall wellbeing. Inspired by the camp’s holistic approach to wellness, the menu features functional blends such as the tropical Tropic-Aid, combining mango, papaya, and coconut water to promote hydration and replenish electrolytes, and Plant Power, a nourishing blend of avocado, kale, banana, and plant protein that provides sustained energy for active days on safari. For post-game drive recovery, guests can opt for Muscle Milk, crafted with banana, cacao, dates, and flaxseed to support muscle repair and replenish essential nutrients, while antioxidant-rich favourites such as the Berry Quencher help combat oxidative stress and boost vitality.
Alongside smoothies, a selection of fresh vegetable-based extractions offers a natural detox and wellness boost. Signature blends include the Lymph Purifier, a refreshing combination of cucumber, celery, kale, and lemon designed to support the body’s natural cleansing processes, and Body Armour, packed with carrot, spinach, parsley, ginger and turmeric to strengthen immunity. Guests can also enjoy the calming Stress Reliever juice, which combines carrot, apple, fennel, and ginger to support balance and relaxation.
