Only 16% of small hotels focus on attracting new guests due to operational demands: SiteMinder
Only 16% of small hotels focus on attracting new guests due to operational demands: SiteMinder
Sydney, Australia – When it comes to dividing time between guest acquisition and day-to-day property management, a study by SiteMinder, the world’s leading hotel guest acquisition and revenue platform, reveals that only 16% of small accommodation businesses globally spend more time attracting guests and growing their bookings, compared to nearly half (49%) who dedicate more time to daily operational demands.
SiteMinder’s study, which uncovers challenges in the small accommodation sector, finds that 53% of small hoteliers would prefer to focus on guest acquisition despite being consumed by property management tasks. Two-in-five (40%) cite ‘lack of knowledge’ as the biggest barrier to adopting technology that could help bring more guests to their property, while nearly a third (29%) maintain static room pricing, either never changing their rates or adjusting them only once annually.
These findings come as SiteMinder unveils the next generation of Little Hotelier, now a comprehensive platform offering advanced distribution and revenue tools once reserved for larger properties, to small accommodation businesses.
As part of Little Hotelier’s major upgrade, accommodation providers will gain access to SiteMinder’s latest revenue-driving solutions: Dynamic Revenue Plus and Channels Plus.
Dynamic Revenue Plus remains the only mobile-first solution that allows hotels to both access live market intelligence – including demand-driving local events and competitor movements – and take immediate action on their bookable inventory, pricing and distribution strategy. This means small accommodation providers can optimise their bookings in real time, whether they’re on the go with their mobile phone or working from their desktop. Channels Plus, meanwhile, makes it easier for properties to broaden their reach by seamlessly connecting to multiple booking channels in a single setup.
Rankin adds:
Backed by SiteMinder’s trusted technology, Little Hotelier also comes with the security, 24/7 support and access to a global network of expert partners that help small hoteliers build their expertise and grow their business. The platform is available to new customers globally, with existing users set to gain access later this year ahead. Broader expansion is planned from February 2026.
