Ahãma Living, a natural retreat nestled under the trees on Turkey’s Fethiye Riviera, is now open
Ahãma Living, a natural retreat nestled under the trees on Turkey’s Fethiye Riviera, is now open
Ahãma Living, on the lesser known Turkish Riviera of Fethiye, opens its doors for its first full season. The first of its kind, Ahãma is a sanctuary of calm, inspiring connection, reflection and awe.
Hidden by the blanket of pine forest, Ahãma Living is perched on the Fethiye Günlüklü Bay, offering blissful seclusion, with only charming fishing villages as neighbours.
The new resort is set within a pocket of protected forest where sigla trees, known as sacred healers to locals, are exclusively found. Once believed to be the bridge between the earthly and the eternal, Ahãma Living honours the spirit of sigla and guests are invited to become guardians of the sigla sanctuary. With this philosophy, Ahãma redefines wild wellness to offer the ultimate luxury: time. Here, days unfold slowly as the sounds and smells of nature sing.
Ahãma’s rooms, restaurants and wellness spaces seemingly tumble from the treetops onto the turquoise coast. 29 guest houses are nestled in the woodlands offering full immersion in nature. 30 one and two-bedroom cabanas are dotted throughout the resort, some overlook the Aegean ocean, some sit poolside and several are hidden in the forest. The two-bedroom Villa Uchi completes the offering, on a private stretch of beach, overlooking the bay.
Designed by Stüdyo AB Architecture, Ahãma’s architecture champions nature. All guest houses and cabanas consist of tree-house style wooden structures complete with floor-to-ceiling windows to invite nature inside. Furniture was hand-crafted from fallen trees and sits pride of place in the rooms. Interiors are understated; raw wooden and timber furnishings are softened by light linens and layered with natural textures. Ceramic decor and earth-toned artwork celebrates local artisans and craftsmanship.
The wellness concept pays homage to the spirit of freedom and truly has no walls. Whilst there is a spa with a few rooms, wellness is everywhere at Ahãma. Saunas are spread throughout the jungle to harness the healing powers of nature. An ancient temple amidst the woodland welcomes daily sound healing sessions, creating a sanctuary of spirituality. A cold plunge and a eucalyptus-scented steam room sit at the forest’s edge. Several treatment cabins line the water and an outdoor studio overhangs the bay, inviting the sounds of the ocean. Wellness is holistic and sensitively nods to traditional Turkish rituals.
Restaurants follow the same philosophy of celebrating nature, each with its own character but sharing the commitment to showcase locally-sourced produce. Ege is Ahama’s signature restaurant, drawing inspiration from the Aegean sea and blending both Turkish and Greek coastal cuisine. Here, fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and the fruits of the sea are as much the highlight as the beachfront setting. Umi is a casual bar on the beach, serving delectable Japanese dishes all day long. Think sushi and sashimi washed down with matcha or sake. AY is an homage to Turkish ocakbaşı cooking traditions. The restaurant is centred around the open-fire, adding smokey flavours to hand-cut kebabs, meats and mezze, accompanied by Raki. Mezkla draws inspiration from Mexico, serving citrusy ceviche and mezcal-based cocktails. The Glasshouse is an effortlessly laid-back breakfast setting, inviting in the morning light. By day, The Glasshouse honours home-style Turkish cooking, where simple seasonal produce and aromatic flavours are the star of the show. Each dining spot boasts a thoughtfully curated local wine selection and a cocktail menu.
Ahãma Living also invites movement in multiple forms from sunrise paddleboarding to somatic and primal yoga sessions and from beach volleyball to dancing to the sound of live music at Mezkla. Other facilities include a forest pool, shaded by sigla trees, an outdoor crossfit, a large gym, padel tennis courts and an organic herb garden.
Ahãma Living also offers an extensive collection of unique experiences, both under the trees and in the sea. Ahãma invites guests to re-connect with themselves, to slow down and to move to the rhythm of nature. By day and by night, Ahãma is more than a wellness retreat, it brings perspective on pace and awakens a new way of living.
