The Posthouse Berlin Opening on 1 September – Leonardo Hotels Brings the Limited Edition Concept to the German Capital for the First Time
The Posthouse Berlin Opening on 1 September – Leonardo Hotels Brings the Limited Edition Concept to the German Capital for the First Time
The rebranding and opening of the Posthouse Berlin – Leonardo Limited Edition on 1 September 2025 will create a new jewel in the upscale hotel sector for the German capital. The former Crowne Plaza® Berlin – Potsdamer Platz has undergone extensive renovations in recent months to transform it into a stylish hotel operating under the Leonardo Limited Edition Hotel brand with an historic soul, an individual character and modern levels of comfort.
The listed building in which the hotel is housed once accommodated Berlin’s most important mail distribution centre, which remained in use up until the 1990s and was even the largest post office in the world for a time. The renovations have meticulously stressed the building’s former life. Symbols and exemplars which are reminiscent of its previous function have been left intact in many cases. The style of the works incorporates elements of the 1920s and 1930s whilst deploying high-end materials to update them for the modern age. The interior designer Andreas Neudahm assumed lead management responsibility for the restoration programme. The blue inflections and premium products included in his concept are a throwback to the colour used by the Imperial Post Office and are also reminiscent of the Thurn & Taxis family, which owned the German postal service in the 19th century.
Design meets history – comfort encounters capital city flair
The Posthouse Berlin’s 256 elegant rooms and suites offer a stylish temporary home from home. A combination of warm colours, comfortable furniture and fine fabrics lend the rooms an inviting air. Personal and dedicated service complement the design to generate a unique and pleasant atmosphere. Eight well-equipped conference rooms allow an appropriate environment for focused work. A modern gym area provides an agreeable space for a workout, whilst the adjoining sauna and a steam bath promise soothing relaxation.
The culinary concept of The Post Bar & Restaurant is a homage to traditional Berlin cuisine – reinterpreted, staged in a creative way and exquisitely prepared using hand-picked ingredients. Creativity meets regionality in a setting which is bound to appeal to hotel guests and connoisseurs of Berlin alike. The culinary treats on offer are supplemented by a high-specification bar, an on-trend location serving up sophisticated cocktail creations which are perfect for rounding off the day in style.
The Posthouse Berlin is Leonardo Hotels’ seventh venture in Berlin. The hotel is truly one of a kind, steeped in tradition and displaying great vibrancy. It fits superbly into the carefully curated selection which makes up the Leonardo Limited Edition. Inimitable hotels such as The Grand Brighton, the Hotel Alden Splügenschloss in Zurich, The Nikolai in Hamburg and the Hotel Mannheimer Hof also form part of the collection.
The location of The Posthouse Berlin could scarcely be better. It is situated in the very centre of the city, near Potsdamer Platz and Anhalter Station. The Tempodrom, a well-known music and events venue, lies directly opposite. Business travellers are able to access key economic and political institutions on foot. The Brandenburg Gate the sizeable green spaces of the Tiergarten are both within the immediate vicinity.
