The Bahamas removes travel health visa requirements

Effective last Sunday, 19th of June, travelers no longer need to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa to be able to enter the country. This was after the Government of The Bahamas removed the particular COVID requirement for international visitors. However, all travelers will still need to present a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to travel to The Bahamas.

As per the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, that the discontinuation of the Travel Health Visa is yet another signal to the international community that the country is open for business. The Deputy Prime Minister also added that throughout the pandemic, they have remained committed to evaluating protocols and adjusting requirements to reflect the current environment. They also acknowledge that the Travel Health Visa was a burden for travelers, and that they are pleased to eliminate this requirement.

Regardless, the health and safety of all citizens, residents and visitors remain the priority despite the streamlining of entry protocols. Besides having to test negative before flying to The Bahamas, all travelers must also follow on-island guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing.
