Tata Curvv.ev Makes History: Records fastest EV Drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari of 3,823 km
Tata Curvv.ev Makes History: Records fastest EV Drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari of 3,823 km
Tata Curvv.ev Achieves 20 records along the journey and showcases India’s expanding public charging network
TATA.ev, India’s largest 4-wheeler EV manufacturer and a leader in India’s EV evolution, has set a new benchmark by recording the fastest EV drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in just 76 hours and 35 minutes—over 19 hours faster than the previous record holder, the Nexon EV MAX. The drive was led by Curvv.ev, India’s very own SUV coupe, which also set 20 national records during the journey.
The remarkable feat saw the Curvv.ev cover 3,800 km across the length of India with only 16 charging stops, reducing the total charging time from 28 hours to 17 hours. This not only demonstrates advancements in battery technology but also highlights India’s expanding public charging infrastructure, which now supports faster charging speeds along major highways.
A Milestone in EV Endurance and Charging Efficiency
The Curvv.ev was flagged off from Srinagar at 4:00 AM on 25th February, 2025, by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Omar Abdullah. Navigating through diverse terrains and varying weather conditions, the flagship EV from TATA.ev leveraged India’s growing public charging network to reach Kanyakumari at 8:35 AM on 28th February, 2025, where it was welcomed by Thiru. Vijay Vasanth, Member of Parliament, Kanyakumari.
Speaking about the expedition, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said:
“We embarked on this exciting non-stop journey to showcase just how effortless, efficient, and comfortable long intercity drives can be with an EV. With plans to cover approximately 1,200 km each day, the Curvv.ev underpinned by the innovative acti.ev pure EV architecture and 55 kWh battery, made this endurance challenge smooth and fatigue-free for the occupants. With public charging infrastructure having grown to over 18,000 charging points, every district in the 10 States and Union Territories the Curvv.ev passed was electrified with fast-chargers.
In addition to this, the Curvv.ev also benefited from the convenience of rapidly growing high-speed charging network and smooth highways. This remarkable feat proves that a Tata EV can successfully complete a journey of this magnitude on par with an ICE-powered vehicle, eliminating concerns about range anxiety or charging infrastructure while maximizing comfort and cost efficiency on long road trips. The fact that we were able to eclipse our own record by 19 hours reflects the maturity of EV technology and its ecosystem. We are confident this brilliant showcase by the Curvv.ev will only increase confidence amongst potential customers to adopt zero emission mobility by purchasing an EV, while instilling pride amongst EV owners.”
India’s Expanding Charging Infrastructure Driving the EV Revolution
India’s charging infrastructure has significantly improved since the last record-setting drive. During the 2023 Nexon.ev run, the most optimal route factoring in charging infrastructure was 4,004 km. However, in 2025, the Curvv.ev covered 3,823 km, requiring fewer deviations to access chargers. This reduction highlights the increasing availability of charging points, making long-distance EV travel nearly as efficient as ICE vehicles.
With 18,000 fast chargers now operational across India, the charging infrastructure has expanded by 227% since 2023, significantly boosted by the introduction of high-powered 60–120 kW chargers. Notably, 85% of India’s national highways now have a fast charger every 50 km, dramatically reducing range anxiety for EV users.
The iRA.ev app’s charge point aggregator, which maps over 12,000 charging points, helped optimize the Curvv.ev’s route while providing vehicle insights and efficient navigation assistance. Additionally, the .ev Verified Charger program, which evaluates charging stations based on reliability, accessibility, and availability of basic amenities, further ensured a seamless driving experience. The TATA.ev Unified RFID card also enhanced convenience by removing the dependency on multiple charging apps, allowing seamless access to various Charge Point Operators (CPOs).
Setting the Standard for Future EV Travel
The Ev Tata Curvv.ev’s record-breaking Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari drive reaffirms TATA.ev’s commitment to India’s EV ecosystem, demonstrating that an electric vehicle can successfully complete a long-distance journey on par with an ICE-powered vehicle. With the rapid growth of EV charging networks, enhanced battery technology, and the integration of intelligent route-planning solutions, long-distance EV travel is now a practical and convenient reality in India.
