DESTINATION: CHINA
Marvel at the diversity China has to offer – from its ancient monuments to mix of landscapes, where history and modernity co-exists. Explore the world’s largest imperial palace in Beijing, the 2200 year old life size Terracotta Army in Xi’An, the oasis along the Silk Road – Dunhuang, Shanghai’s former colonial past and the beautiful sandstone pillars in Zhangjiajie on which Pandora (in the film Avatar) was modelled after.
Cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu have world class convention centres and hotels with the necessary capabilities to host large-scale events. Many new hotels are also being built in emerging cities such as Suzhou, Xi’An and Hangzhou to support the burgeoning demand in the industry. With a mix of modern and unique venues available, China is ready to surprise you.
China has its fascinating quirks – from a marriage market where parents try to find companions for their children, to a Jewish district in Shanghai, where a sizeable Jewish community still lives after fleeing Europe during World War II. Harbin houses a Russian-styled church (St. Sophia Orthodox Church) and Xi’An Is home to a Chinese-styled 1250 year old mosque.
