Kuwait Airways to commence new Manchester route

In an attempt to uplift the economies of both Kuwait and the north on England, Kuwait Airways is launching direct flights to Manchester. The set flight frequency is three times in every week starting May 1.

At present, there are 49,000 people traveling indirectly to Kuwait from across Manchester’s Airports catchment area. These are a mix of those visiting family and friends and businesses that trade in the Middle East. In addition, around 800,000 people from across the North travel to a range of Kuwait Airways’ onward destinations that are not currently served by Manchester Airport, including Bangkok, Mumbai, Delhi, and Manila.

It is foreseen that such flights will be popular among students, with universities promoting the start of services, as currently 2,960 Kuwaiti students are studying across Manchester Airport’s catchment area. As pre-pandemic count estimates more than 23,000 people a year from Kuwait visiting the North West and spending more than £22 million, tourism bodies are promoting and broadcasting the new route.

Per Maen Razouqi, Kuwait Airways Chief Executive Officer, Manchester is a highly important destination to Kuwait Airways’ customers, backed by increasing demands from tourists especially in summer. In addition, the launching of Manchester as a destination in KAC’s network will assist a large segment of students to study abroad in Universities in Manchester and in England.

The launching of another long-haul route coming to Manchester clearly demonstrates the important role that is played by the company in connecting the North to key global destinations. Not only do routes like these make travel easier, but they put the region on the international map for trade, economic and tourism opportunities, plus encourages a wealth of jobs in the process.

It can be recalled that Kuwait Airways is currently nominated in the categories for Middle East’s Leading Airline 2022, and Middle East’s Leading Airline – Economy Class 2022 in World Travel Awards. With travel industry professionals and the general public eligible to vote via the World Travel Awards website, voting is currently ongoing.
