Autumn on the water: The most colourful river itineraries from A-ROSA

Where to sail this autumn
On the Danube, the Danube Discovery itinerary sails from Passau through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, its terraced vineyards turning amber through October, on to Vienna, Bratislava, back through Wachau to Melk, and on to Linz, before returning to Passau. Four reasons to sail this autumn
The colour. Vineyards along the Wachau and Moselle turn shades of gold and copper through late September and October, while the Danube’s forested banks shift with the season, ideal for autumn photography.
The harvest. Grape harvest along both rivers typically runs September into October, and towns such as Bernkastel-Kues and Rüdesheim lean into it with local wine bars and markets marking the season.
