Apres-Ski with a Different Agenda: Less Schnapps, More Serenity

The final descent is often followed by the familiar reckoning: burning thighs, tired calves and shoulders that have worked harder than expected. For skiers looking beyond the traditional après-ski circuit, Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne offers a more restorative way to bring a Swiss ski trip to a close.

Located an hour from the slopes of Engelberg-Titlis, the resort is not a base for skiing, but the detour to take once the final run is complete. After several days on the mountain, guests can leave the busy ski villages behind and spend one or two nights above Lake Lucerne, where the focus shifts from performance to recovery.

At the heart of the stay is the award-winning 10,000-square-metre Alpine Spa. Guests can move between the heated outdoor infinity pool, four saunas, an Alpine steam bath and hot and cold plunge pools, while the saline floating pool and targeted body treatments help ease tired legs, backs and shoulders.

This is après-ski reimagined: swapping crowded slope-side bars for a cold plunge, a full-body treatment and an evening overlooking the lake.

Recovery continues over seasonal open-fire cooking at Oak Grill, traditional fondue at Taverne 1879 or cocktails at Lakeview Bar. The following morning can be spent walking through the resort’s 60-hectare estate, joining a yoga session or simply slowing down before travelling home.
